So, it's clearly been a while. Fail on my part. This will be a picture-less entry, at least in its first incarnation, because I have far too many pictures to sort through, and we're getting ready to go out and explore Trastevere...
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of crazy. We've seen multiple examples of Etruscan tombs, involving climbing into sketchy underground tunnels, and taking notes on fresco paintings and tomb architecture. It was pretty cool though. We went to Tarquinia and Cerveteri, both centers where the Etruscans buried their dead in "necropoleis," which are cities of the dead. The closest thing I've seen are the cemeteries in New Orleans, but it's really remarkable how detailed the tombs were.
We even went in and laid down on the burial beds...kinda creepy, not gonna lie.

First Few Days
Buon giorno!
I've survived my first three days of classes! This program is really intense, and we have a lot of reading and homework to do, but it is so worth it. Here's a brief summary :)
So our first day was just orientation, and we took a walk around the neighborhood we live in. We are near Trastevere, not in the city center. It's very nice to be kind of secluded, since we have less touristy interactions, and more authentic interactions with Italian culture.
We saw some pretty cool things near the Centro:

Rome: Getting There
Greetings from Rome!
After several hours waiting for check in to open, and sitting in the O'Hare International Terminal, watching Irish football on my laptop, I've made it safe and sound! (Note: Flying from Newark to Chicago, then Chicago to Rome was incredibly useless...)
I managed to make it to the building we are staying at, and where we have classes, the Centro. Unpacked a bit, and then went on a walk with some of the other students. We explored the park nearby and ordered gelatto-in Italian! Very stunted and badly spoken Italian, but still...
Now we're hanging out, waiting for classes to begin tomorrow!
Ciao!
